Native Plants Identification

A native perennial lily found across Alberta. It grows 30 to 90 cm tall with orange to red blooms, often dotted with black or purple, blooming from June to July. The plant is pollinated by swallowtail butterflies, monarchs, and bees, and its bulbs are an important food source for grizzly bears and rodents. It is illegal to pick wildflowers in Alberta parks, and collecting them on public land generally requires a permit. The plant is sensitive to heavy grazing and clear-cutting.
